PPAS is different from all other performing arts schools in New York City, because our arts instruction comes exclusively from professional theater, music, and arts companies. Each major at PPAS consists instructors, directors, musicians, choreographers, and performers, all who are established, working professionals in the arts.

PPAS, an intimate magnet school committed to fostering excellence in the performing arts, provides a high-quality academic curriculum with instruction in dance, vocals, drama, and musical theater. The two institutions—conveniently located within seven blocks of each other in New York City's theater district—have formed a vibrant and dynamic venue for superior interdisciplinary education in academics and dance. The program fulfills the requirements of the New York State Regents' Diploma while preparing students to pursue careers as professional dancers.

The PPAS Vocal Program is a pre-conservatory, classical music program that includes instruction in vocal technique, musicianship, music theory and concert choir. Students are instructed and coached in solo and ensemble performance technique and participate in a variety of performances throughout the school year. Performances include Vocal Soiree Recitals, Choir Concerts in Winter and Spring, performances at school events including open houses and student orientations and performances at David Geffen Hall, Lincoln Center with the National Chorale.
Film: Evolution Arts
The PPAS FILM MAJOR is a two-year conservatory-style program designed to equip the next generation of storytellers with the skills to navigate a digitally-driven world. With industry-grade equipment and hands- on experience, the program fosters meaningful self-expression on screen, and serves as a vital pathway for aspiring storytellers to gain admission to universities, film schools, and the broader industry. Complementing the rigorous standards in PPAS' legacy arts programs, the film major offers students a new way of sharing their talents with the world.
